4 English Cocktails that Qualify for The British Grand Prix

The British Grand Prix is a beloved sporting event that only comes around once a year, and is an absolute staple on the calendar of any major motorsport superfan’s calendar. Whether you’ve followed Formula 1 for years, or are just getting started on your journey, you’ll want to make sure you have the right drinks to help you put your foot flat to the floor and dive straight into the day.

For this reason, Wise Bartender have created a list of our favourite British cocktails, split into four sectors, that you can free practice at home. Straight from our paddock to yours.

Without further ado, it’s lights out, and away we go.

English Breakfast Martini

Our first cocktail off the marker is a classic English cocktail mixed with a quintessentially British hot drink: the English Breakfast Martini. You will definitely have heard of each of these tasty beverages as individual drinks, but when you put the two together, you get something that’s certain to leave a blistering impression on your guests.

And, regardless of race result, you have a drink that is both bitter and sweet to either celebrate or commemorate the win.

Ingredients:

Recipe:

  1. Leave the tea to infuse in the New London Light spirit overnight to infuse
  2. Strain the tea into a cocktail mixer
  3. Combine with plenty of ice, vermouth and sugar syrup
  4. Strain into martini glasses
  5. Garnish with orange peel

Tip top tipple advice: Experiment with garnish to create a cocktail that is truly pole-sitting.

Raspberry Bramble

The Bramble is fresh, bright and colourful, and a few sips of our alcohol-free alternative will set you up for the race perfectly. Like the tyre variations that can make or break a driver’s position on the grid, the berry liqueur you choose to replace the traditional creme de mure with can define your entire drinking experience.

So, we’ve put a lot of thought into our strategy.

Ingredients:

Recipe:

  1. Combine plenty of ice, the Brunswick spirit, lemon juice and spirit in a cocktail shaker
  2. Strain into glasses of your choice

Gimlet

A speedy drink for a speedy sport, the Gimlet is well known for providing a shot of citrusy goodness to any evening, so why not delight your guests with a tray of lime and gin, straight from the cocktail shaker?

This cocktail is not only a perfect tribute to our British teams and drivers at their home Grand Prix, but also phenomenally refreshing on a hot summer’s day in July.

In fact, we might even say it hits the apex.
